How it works
- Send photos. The damaged boards and railing, and at least one from underneath showing the joists and the ledger, the board that attaches the deck to the house.
- Get a fixed written price the same business day. The scope is written out and the licensed, insured local company doing the work is named on the quote.
- Pick an appointment window. The crew photographs the work before and after.
- Approve the finished job, then pay the balance. If something unexpected turns up mid-job, work stops and you get the change in writing first.
Safety first: the frame and the ledger
New boards on a rotting frame is money spent twice, so every deck quote starts with the structure. We look at the joists, the posts, and above all the ledger, because many serious deck failures start where the deck attaches to the house. If the frame is sound, replacing boards and railings is excellent value. If it is not, we price the structural repair first and tell you plainly when a deck is past repairing.
What we do not do
We repair existing decks. New deck construction and full replacements need design and permits and are outside what we price from photos. Where a structural repair needs a permit in your city, we say so in the quote.
Where we work
We take jobs in Louisville and Lexington in Kentucky, Cincinnati and Columbus in Ohio, Indianapolis, and Knoxville. Each page covers the local housing and what a contractor there needs to be licensed for. Not sure you are covered? Check your ZIP code.
Common questions
Can you replace just a few boards?
Yes, as long as the joists underneath are sound. New boards look different until they weather, so we put them where they show least when we can.
How do I know if my deck is safe?
Warning signs are soft or spongy boards, a railing that moves when pushed, rust streaks or gaps where the deck meets the house, and posts that are soft at the base. Send photos and we will tell you what we see.
Do you stain the deck after repairs?
We can, as part of the same fixed price. New pressure-treated boards need to dry before they take stain, so staining is sometimes scheduled later.
Is there a minimum job?
Yes, $450.
